The random draw logic: Russia, France, Poland, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina, Germany and Brazil make their way to one pot because they are somehow or the other, champions. The remaining teams will be randomly assorted in 3 pots, so that makes 4 pots in total to decide the fifa world cup groups.

The draw is made from each pot, and the team from pot 1 shall be the first one in the group and so on and so forth. The names will be drawn till there are 8 complete groups, each having 4 teams in it to compete for the top position.

The knockout games: It is pretty evident that the knockout stage won’t need a draw to decide the fifa world cup groups. Only the top two teams from each group will qualify and play further.
